Some lunches are just meals.
Others, the one I had recently with my lovely friend Yvette, are full-on experiences.
We headed to Battlefield Farm Shop in Shrewsbury, and let me tell you: it was a feast for the senses and a balm for the soul.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place knows how to do hospitality right. The layout was easy to navigate, which, when you live with chronic pain and fibromyalgia, is no small thing. No awkward steps, no tight corners, no “do I risk it or do I reverse?” moments. Just smooth, thoughtful design that made moving around feel effortless.
🍽️ The food? Phenomenal. Locally sourced, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Whether you’re after a hearty plate or something lighter, their menu hits that sweet spot between comfort and quality. Yvette and I may have done a little happy dance in our seats (mine was more of a shoulder shimmy, but the joy was real).
💬 The staff were a dream - genuinely helpful without hovering, and quick to offer assistance when needed. It wasn’t just good service; it was kind service. The sort that makes you feel seen, not just served.
🛍️ And then there’s the shop. Oh, the shop! A treasure trove of local produce, artisan treats, and gift-worthy goodies. The range was brilliant, whether you’re stocking up for a dinner party or just fancy a fancy biscuit, they’ve got you covered. And again, accessibility was clearly considered. Wide aisles, clear signage, and no need to play supermarket Tetris with your mobility aids.
By the end of our visit, I felt full in every sense - good food, good company, and a space that welcomed me as I am. It’s rare to find places that blend charm with genuine inclusivity, but Battlefield Farm Shop nails it.
So if you’re in Shrewsbury and fancy a lunch that’s equal parts delicious and doable, this one’s a winner. And if you go with a friend like Yvette? Even better.
